Welcome to Dr. Mandi’s webpage!  I am a (full) Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics here at Metropolitan State University of Denver.  I began in August 2014 as Assistant Professor, and was granted early tenure and promoted to Associate Professor in May 2018, and was promoted to Full Professor in May 2022.  I’m a dedicated educator, but am also an active researcher in my area of groups and character theory.  (See research and teaching links above for more info!) I am also an Associate Editor at Communications in Algebra, a popular Algebra journal.

Before coming to MSU Denver, I spent a year at Michigan State University as a Visiting Assistant Professor (Postdoc) in the Department of Mathematics, working with Professor Jon Hall.  Before that, I did my B.S. (2009) and Ph.D. (2013) in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona.  My Ph.D. thesis was supervised by Professor Pham Huu Tiep, who is now at Rutgers University, and I defended my dissertation on April 3, 2013.  I also did an honors thesis during my B.S., which was supervised by Professor Klaus Lux at UA.
