Note: This process will encounter problems if there is a question set within a test.

Part 1: Export the Test

Step 1: In the course where the course is located, click on “Course Tools” underneath the Course Management Panel.

Step 2: Select “Tests, Surveys, and Pools”.

Step 3: Click on “Tests”.

Step 4: Hover over the title of test and click on the Action Link Item (circle) that appears to the right.

Step 5: Select “Export to Local Computer”.

Step 6: The file will download as a zip folder. If using a Mac, it is recommended to use Chrome so that the zip folder does not automatically uncompress or unzip.

 

Part 2: Import the Test

Step 1: Go to the course in which the test should be imported into and click on “Course Tools” underneath the Course Management Panel.

Step 2: Click on “Tests, Surveys, and Pools” and select “Tests”.

Step 3: Click on the “Import Test” button.

Step 4: Click on the “Browse My Computer” button and navigate to the zipped file downloaded in Part 1.

Step 5: Select the folder and click on the “Open” button.

Step 6: Click on the “Submit” button. It may take a few minutes to process.

Step 7: Click on the “OK” button when the “Test Import Complete” screen shows.

Note: The test will still need to be deployed. Instructions for deploying a test can be found in the Deploy a Test tutorial.

Step 1: Go to the class where the current rubrics need to be exported from. Click on “Course Tools” underneath the Course Management Panel

Step 2: Select “Rubrics”

Step 3: Check the boxes next to the titles of the rubrics that need exported

Step 8: Go to the course where the rubrics need to be imported to. Click on “Course Tools” underneath the Course Management Panel

Step 9: Select “Rubrics”

Step 10: Click on the “Import Rubric” button

Step 12: Click on the .zip folder downloaded from Step 7 and click on the “Open” button

Step 13: Click on the “Ok” button. The rubrics should be imported into the course and ready to be attached to gradable items.

When you export tests from Blackboard Learn to a Mac computer using OS, the zip files will be automatically opened and unzipped. The Safari browser has a setting that you can enable or disable to prevent files from opening after they have been downloaded.

Step 1. Bring up Safari’s Preferences Menu: click on Safari in the main menu, located in the top left hand corner of your screen. When the drop-down list appear, choose Preferences.

Step 2. Select “General” from the Preferences Menu.

Step 3. Select a folder for your downloaded files to be saved to. The default folder is Downloads.

Step 4. Remove the check mark from the box Open “safe” files after downloading.
