PETER FRIESEN is on the faculty of Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he teaches both class piano and private piano lessons.  A native of Southern California, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, where he studied piano with Victor Labenske.  He was highly involved in the local music community as a piano teacher, accompanist, and frequent master class performer, and was awarded several prizes and honors as an entrant in local and state festivals and competitions.  Mr. Friesen moved to Colorado in 2005, and received his Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2007.  While studying piano with David Korevaar and Robert Spillman, he studied as a teaching assistant under Alejandro Cremaschi, teaching class piano and studying group teaching techniques.  A passionate performer, Mr. Friesen is drawn to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries, and enjoys collaborating with composers to bring their new music to life.  He currently serves as the Commissioned Composer Chair for the Colorado State Music Teachers Association, and is a former President of the Broomfield Music Teachers Association. Mr. Friesen also teaches from his studio in Westminster and is a former member of the faculty at the Center for Musical Arts in Lafayette.
