David Kates

David KatesDavid Kates served as Director of Choral Studies at Colorado Christian University from 2014-2016.  Prior to that appointment he was on the choral faculty at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he conducted the University Singers and taught conducting. Over the years, Dr. Kates has conducted choral performances with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra, the Boulder Philharmonic, the Denver Chamber Orchestra, the Littleton Symphony Orchestra and the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. He has been active in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), serving at the state, regional and national levels. Currently the Repertoire and Standards Chair for Music in Worship for Colorado, Dr. Kates is a past Editor of The Colorado Choral Director, and has published articles with state organizations and in theChoral Journal. His church choirs have performed at state and regional ACDA conferences.  Kates holds music degrees from Louisiana State University, Sam Houston State University, and the University of Colorado, Boulder.  Since 1991, he has served as director of the music program at Littleton United Methodist Church in Littleton, where he lives with his wife, Kelly, and their two daughters.
