How to Access YuJa and the recording feature

*Please note that if you do not already have the YuJa Software Station installed, you will need admin rights to install the software. To do this, please contact the MSU Denver Helpdesk for assistance (#303-352-7548)

  1. Log into your Blackboard Learn via the Faculty/Staff Hub at http://www.msudenver.edu/facstaff/
  2. Select the course you wish to use YuJa within
  3. On the course homepage choose the Add Menu Item Plus Sign in the upper left of the Course Menu and choose Tool Link from the drop down menu

  4. In the Add Tool Link option name the link and choose YuJa from the Type options

  5. If you want students to have direct access to the courses media gallery you can check the box next to Available to Users. If you are simply embedding videos directly into your content then we recommend not checking this option. Click Submit

    Shows the Add Tool Link with Name = Yuja and the Type = YuJa. Available to users checkbox is blank.
  6. From your course menu options to the left, select the YuJa link you just created (it will be located at the bottom of the course menu if you have not moved it)

    Shows that now YuJa link is included in the main menu.
  7. From here, after a few seconds, you will be redirected to a page called Media Channel

  8. From here you will see the options: View Channels, Create Recording, Upload & Manage. To create a recording choose Create Recording
  9. If you have previously downloaded and installed the YuJa Software Station software, please skip to step #22, otherwise click on the Download link to download and install the YuJa Software Station software required to record.

  10. The software will begin downloading onto your MAC (this may take several minutes)
  11. While the software is downloading, you may monitor its progress on the bar at the bottom of your screen.
  12. After the file has completed downloading you may access your Downloads and double click on the package. The package will be called YuJa-Software-station.exe

  13. A pop-up will appear and you will select Run

  14. A series of pop-ups will appear and you will select Next

  15. Select I Accept the Terms and License Agreement and click Next

  16. The Install window will show the folder where it is choosing to install the software. Select Next

  17. Finally, select Install

  18. Wait for the Install to complete (This process may take several minutes)

  19. A User Account Control Window will appear. Choose Yes to “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device”

  20. When the InstallShield Wizard is complete, Uncheck the “Launch the program” box
  21. Then Choose Finish

  22. Go back to the Capture & Live Stream window and choose Start Capture

  23. Depending on your computer system set-up you may have browser or Firewall pop-ups appear to confirm that you want to Open YuJa Software or Allow Access for YuJa to operate. Choose the appropriate response to allow YuJa to operate on your system.

  24. Now the Capture Software will open and you can begin recording

  26. You will also want to choose from the drop down where you would like to save your recording

  27. If you want to change or check the resolution of your final video then you can choose Settings and then Screen Capture to access the Video Resolution Settings. Choose your settings and then choose Save

  28. In the Preview Area you can see which screens you have set up to be recorded and your mic source. If your mic source is working you will see a the bar fill with blue as you talk into your mic.

  29. You can change or turn on and off your Video, Audio and Screen Capture sources using the Menu to the left of the Preview Area.

  30. If you are using dual monitors you can change which monitor your recording captures by choosing Screen from the Menu and then Advanced Settings under the Screen options. In the Advanced Setting select which display you would like to capture and hit Save

  31. Review the Previewing area to make sure that you are viewing the correct screen and that your mic is working. When you are ready to start recording choose Start

  32. A short countdown will start before the recording starts. When the countdown is finished the YuJa Software station will minimize itself and the recording has begun.

  33. You can find the YuJa controls in the bottom right corner of your computer screen.
    1. To maximize the YuJa Software Station screen click on the YuJa logo
    2. To stop the recording click on the Red Square
    3. To Pause the recording click on the Pause symbol

  34. If you are looking at theĀ  YuJa software station while recording it will display a red dot image with the word Capturing

  35. When you are finished recording choose Finish in the lower right corner of the YuJa Software station, or choose the red square in the controls at the bottom right corner of your screen

  36. A pop-up will appear asking if you want to save the recording that you have just made. Choose Save if you want to keep the recording.

  37. To find the recording go back to YuJa in Blackboard and choose Upload & Manage

  38. Choose My Media and Double click on the Default Collection folder. In this folder you should find your latest recordings (Please realize that a recording can take up 2 to 3 hours to process. If the recording is still being processed you will see a processing screen and you will need to give it more time. Automatic captioning will take 1 to 2 hours after the video has been processed.
  39. When the Video has been processed you can hover over the video thumbnail to reveal the video control options.
