We are here to help! This year\u2019s professional development session focuses on how to create the highest quality written materials for all of your application needs. Bring any draft materials you have (digital or hard copy) for real time feedback and suggestions. Are you brand new and starting from scratch? No problem! We will help you figure out where to start and get you going on your first draft. You will also be able to network and partner with other students also going through the same process.<\/li>\n<li>This year&#8217;s panelists include:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle\">\n<li><strong>Dr. Marian Hamilton<\/strong> is an associate professor of Anthropology at the University of Northern Colorado. She is a paleoanthropologist who specializes in human behavioral evolution and habitat reconstruction.<\/li>\n<li><b>Dr. Lauren Hosek <\/b>is an assistant professor of Anthropology at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is a historical bioarchaeologist with projects in early medieval Central Europe and 19th century Colorado.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dr. Steven Leigh<\/strong>\u00a0is a professor of Anthropology at the University of Colorado Boulder and Past President of the AABA. His research focuses on growth and development and microbiomes in human and primate evolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Conference Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All RMBAA members who are up-to-date on their membership dues for the 2024 calendar year are eligible to attend the Annual Meeting. Our membership dues also cover conference registration, so please <strong>visit our<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.msudenver.edu\/rmbaa\/about\/membership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">membership page<\/a><\/strong> to pay your annual dues in order to attend the annual meeting.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Student Awards!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To further the RMBAA mission of supporting student research, we will be awarding a student prize! We will award one each to the\u00a0<strong>top graduate<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>top undergraduate student\u00a0<\/strong>abstracts at this year&#8217;s meeting. Student award recipients will be announced during the meeting&#8217;s closing remarks at 4:45 PM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>\u00a0To be eligible, the student must be currently enrolled, must be the first author on the abstract, and must present the research in person at the conference. If you meet these criteria, please indicate your interest in being considered for the award on the abstract submission form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0Abstracts will be judged based on the scientific value and quality of the submitted work. In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, a competitive abstract should:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Clearly describe the concept or problem being tested<br \/>\n\u2013 Demonstrate new findings or interpretations that improve our understanding<br \/>\n\u2013 Propose new directions based on the research findings<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2024 Student Award Winners<\/span>:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Graduate Student Prize:<\/strong> Yuti Gao (University of Colorado Boulder) for Investigating Variation in Cercopithecoid Oral Microbiomes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Undergraduate Student Prize: <\/strong>John A. Nguyen (Regis University) for Mantled howler monkey (<em>Alouatta palliata<\/em>) behavior in primary versus secondary forests at La Selva, Costa Rica<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Directions &amp; Parking<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The SpringHill Suites is located at 1190 Auraria Pkwy, Denver, CO 80204. From I-25N, go east on Auraria Pkwy (exit 210B), from I-25S, go south on Speer Blvd (exit 212B).<\/p>\n<p>For valet parking, follow the red arrows on the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.msudenver.edu\/rmbaa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/482\/2024\/09\/Location.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">map<\/a><\/strong> and inform the valet that you are with the \u201c<strong>MSU Denver group<\/strong>.\u201d Please note that valet parking is limited and may fill up early. This campus is shared by Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado Denver, and Community College of Denver.
