Dawn descends the rock walls trending<\/p>\n
Towards the shelter of my home<\/p>\n

Where a trick of light<\/p>\n
Becomes a nuthatch<\/p>\n
Hanging upside down at the feeder:<\/p>\n
familiar but never really known.<\/p>\n

A coyote watches me, walks away<\/p>\n
slowly, turning to look,<\/p>\n
as it goes up the arroyo.<\/p>\n

A still moment<\/p>\n
In the canyon dawn,<\/p>\n

Enchanting cottonwoods<\/p>\n
Cast spells;<\/p>\n
The coyote listens,<\/p>\n
Ears lifted.<\/p>\n
