Well, not the entire thing, but the damage was enough to destroy expensive equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>I was an engineering major, so I wasn\u2019t directly affected. Still, rumors from the chemistry wing leaked into our corner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>A formal investigation ruled it an accident, but the rumors didn\u2019t dissipate. Longer than gas, they lingered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>I never asked my roommate if he\u2019d done it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>But I\u2019d sometimes glance at the photo he kept on his night table. I wondered if the girl behind glass knew what he\u2019d done\u2014that she was the catalyst.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alaina Hammond is a poet, playwright, fiction writer, and visual artist.
