Additionally, non-U.S. citizen resident and non-resident students who do not qualify as ASSET can use the CASFA to apply for institutional aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>October 1: The CASFA becomes available.<\/strong> Remember, this is for the next school year. So for financial aid in the 2024-2025 school year, you&#8217;d want to look for the CASFA in October 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Let&#8217;s get started!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Determine if You Qualify<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for Colorado ASSET in-state tuition, an undocumented student<br>must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have attended a public or private high school in Colorado for at least one year immediately before graduation or completed a general equivalency diploma (GED) in Colorado. One year is defined as two academic terms immediately preceding graduation or completing the Colorado GED.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have continuous physical presence in Colorado for 12 months preceding the start of the semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply for and complete an affidavit with the College Opportunity Fund (COF) indicating that you have applied for legal presence or will apply as soon as you are eligible to do so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit official final Colorado high school transcripts indicating one year of  attendance at a Colorado high school immediately preceding graduation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit official Colorado GED transcript, if applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<details>\n    <summary>En Espanol<\/summary>\n    <p>La Solicitud de Ayuda Financiera Estatal de Colorado (CASFA) es la solicitud de Ayuda Financiera Estatal para estudiantes indocumentados ASSET de Colorado. &nbsp;CASFA cierra las brechas de equidad y crea acceso a la educaci&oacute;n postsecundaria para los estudiantes ASSET de Colorado.<\/p>\n    <p>Calificaci&oacute;n para ser estudiante ASSET (Advancing Students for a Stronger Economy Tomorrow):<\/p>\n    <p>La Asamblea General aprob&oacute; HB22-1155, clasificaci&oacute;n de matr&iacute;cula estatal para estudiantes graduados de la preparatoria de Colorado.<\/p>\n    <p>La ley requiere que una instituci&oacute;n clasifique a un estudiante como ACTIVO para fines de matr&iacute;cula si el estudiante:<\/p>\n    <ul>\n        <li>Se gradu&oacute; de una escuela preparatoria de Colorado o estuvo f&iacute;sicamente presente en Colorado durante al menos un a&ntilde;o inmediatamente anterior a la fecha en que el estudiante complet&oacute; con &eacute;xito un examen de equivalencia de escuela preparatoria en Colorado; y<\/li>\n        <li>Ha estado f&iacute;sicamente presente en Colorado durante al menos 12 meses consecutivos antes de inscribirse en una instituci&oacute;n.<\/li>\n    <\/ul>\n    <p>Ya no hay un requisito para que el estudiante sea admitido en la universidad dentro de los 12 meses posteriores a la graduaci&oacute;n.<\/p>\n    <p>Los estudiantes que no tienen estatus migratorio legal y que no cumplen con los requisitos de ASSET todav&iacute;a son alentados a solicitar ayuda institucional utilizando CASFA.<strong> Los estudiantes que son elegibles para recibir ayuda federal del T&iacute;tulo IV al completar la FAFSA no deben completar CASFA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n    <p>Para Solicitar la Aplicaci&oacute;n&nbsp;<\/p>\n    <p><a class=\"inline_disabled\" href=\"https:\/\/cdhestudentxprod.regenteducation.net\/signin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gather the Documents Needed to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The CASFA will ask for the following information or documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Federal income tax returns.<\/strong> If you&#8217;re independent, you will need your tax returns and your spouse, if married. If you&#8217;re claimed as a dependant on your parent&#8217;s taxes, you will need to have their tax return information as well. `If you did not file taxes, you may be asked to submit a letter of non-filing from the IRS.gov website or submit a signed statement explaining why you or your parents did not file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Note:  <\/strong>Male students no longer have to register for Selective Service to qualify for state aid. Remember- this is a FREE application. You should never have to pay to complete the FAFSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CASFA Help and Resources Online<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cdhe.colorado.gov\/students\/preparing-for-college\/colorado-application-for-state-financial-aid\">Colorado Department of Higher Education.<\/a> <\/strong>FAQs and resources on the CASFA are available from the Colorado Department of Higher Education in both English and Spanish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MSU Office of Immigrant Services<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msudenver.edu\/immigrant-services\/\">Office of Immigrant Services<\/a> provides assistance to students completing the CASFA application.
