Then, open your grade book to the assignment, add grades. If you need to refer to when they submitted, what assignment it is, or your written comments to customize the grade, that is all in the spreadsheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"870\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.msudenver.edu\/socialwork\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2021\/02\/Lee-Screenshot-3.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of using Canvas and Excel together.\" class=\"wp-image-764\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.msudenver.edu\/socialwork\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2021\/02\/Lee-Screenshot-3.png 1024w, https:\/\/sites.msudenver.edu\/socialwork\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2021\/02\/Lee-Screenshot-3-300x255.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.msudenver.edu\/socialwork\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2021\/02\/Lee-Screenshot-3-768x653.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other hacks that let me spend more time on student engagement:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Link to the whole class space, not individual topics\u00a0<ul><li><strong>why?<\/strong>\u00a0people don\u2019t get stuck or dependent on a unique link for each discussion\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Name topics for the weeks (Module 4 #1, #2,\u00a0etc.)\u00a0\u00a0<ul><li><strong>why?<\/strong>\u00a0Easier to for students to find, for us all to refer to, memorable\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Have all first posts due midweek\u00a0<ul><li>Do not have them reply within the grid (unless for social engagement reasons)\u00a0\u00a0<ul><li><strong>why?<\/strong>\u00a0to promote group learning, reduce efficient yet reductive interactions\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Create a \u201cresponse\u201d or R grid due at the end of the week, have them watch all (or at least 10) classmate videos from the first grid\u00a0\u00a0<ul><li>note themes,\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>select a significant quote that helped your thinking\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>integrate with other module materials, what\u2019s the main point of all this?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>why?<\/strong>\u00a0promotes metacognition, recall, consolidates learning\u00a0<\/li><li>BONUS:\u00a0 I can embed a video to comment on themes or add thoughts based on the first grid\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>when the R grid is due,&nbsp;<strong>export data&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>To do all this fast:&nbsp;<\/strong>In Canvas, create an assignment for each task (for&nbsp;instance) Module&nbsp;1 #1, Module 1R, grade each.
