I am excited to share 3 bits of news with you.  <\/p>\n

First<\/strong>, and most importantly, Rachael D is resting and healing from her successful hip surgery.  She is excited about all the work we are doing and looking forward to being back in action inspiring us all.  She has already walked a little in the hospital and I believe will be going home today!<\/p>\n

Second<\/strong>, the exhibition has become increasingly interesting and offers us a bold time and place to share process oriented thinking in arts education!  Our exhibition will be MSU Denver’s contribution to the Biennial of the Americas<\/strong>.  The Biennial has recently undergone significant structural and thematic changes and has incredibly selected “Process” for its theme \ud83d\ude42  Given this synchronicity the Center for Visual Art has chosen to extend our exhibition from July 5th through September 21.  Given the July 4th festivities we will be celebrating the opening on July 12th <\/strong>and I will send invitations to you as that date grows nearer.  Please make a note of these changes in your schedule.<\/p>\n

Third<\/strong>, The Publication
With the wind in our sales and the brilliant ideas that have been shared at our monthly meetings Anne, Rachael and I have been encouraged to create a catalog for the exhibition.  This small publication will include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. An introduction by Arnold Aprill, Founder and Lead Consultant for the Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education<\/li>\n
  2. Short articles by Cecily Cullen (Creative Director for the CVA), Anne, Rachael and myself about the nature of TLP, the exhibition and 21st century thinking in arts education.<\/li>\n
  3. Most importantly, a single page per artist including imagery of your work and of your work in process as well as a short artist statement defining your question and journey.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We are looking to create something beautiful and thought provoking.  Studio M, an MSU Denver student graphic design firm will be designing the document!  We have applied for several grants to support this publication and hope to be able to print a small edition to share with you and perhaps to sell.
    <\/span>
    <\/span>As the exhibition approaches we have a few deadlines to meet and resources to share.  Please, please feel free to continue coming to meetings as your schedule permits and never feel obligated.  I will try my best to communicate digitally with anyone who can not make a meeting and to update our website.     <\/span>Deadlines<\/strong> for the publication necessitate that we complete our work and artist statements well ahead of the exhibition.  I know that this will come as a surprise and hope that rather than being a deterrent it is a motivator \ud83d\ude42  All work does not need to be included in the publication, however if you would like to be represented in the catalog these dates are very important.  We will provide lighting and cameras to capture images in the classroom if that is the best way for you to work.  You may also take photos and share high quality pics with me anytime.

    <\/span>Each artist represented in the catalog will have 1 page of dynamic composition of images and text.

    <\/span> Important Dates:<\/strong>
    <\/span>
    <\/span>March 5th<\/strong> TLP regular meeting: Cecily Cullen (CVA Creative Director) will share information about readying work for the exhibition and would love to hear about\/see sketches\/understand scale and materials of your concept to begin planning the layout of the exhibition space.
    <\/span>
    <\/span>April 2nd<\/strong> TLP regular meeting will include time to capture process or final imagery
    <\/span>
    <\/span>April 15th<\/strong> Artist Statements and Process Images Due to the CVA by 6 pm
    <\/span>
    <\/span>April 30th<\/strong> (In place of TLP May regular meeting) will include time to capture final imagery
    <\/span>
    <\/span>By request (during spring break or at other times) you may be able to work in the CVA classroom.
    <\/span>
    <\/span><\/p>\n

    Photos and text sent after May 1 will not be included in the catalog but may still be permitted in the exhibition. <\/strong>(Keep in mind that you might choose to share a close-up photo or two for the catalog that conceals the fact that the final work is not complete)<\/p>\n

    All work to be delivered June 18-21, 11 am-6 pm.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n
