Connecting to Colorado’s Future Through its Past: Teaching with Primary Sources and the Colorado Encyclopedia
This session highlighted our partnership with the Colorado Humanities to deliver professional development opportunities and primary source strategies and sets to K-12 educators based around Colorado specific topics.

The Colorado Encyclopedia is an amazing website made for educators by educators and historians with leveled articles for the 4th, 8th, and 10th grades. Each Colorado topic includes at least 3 to 5 primary sources and a contextual article. This is an ongoing project, so it will be updated and continually added to.
Got Primary Sources
This session was done in collaboration with the Stephanie Hartman from the Colorado Department of Education. For the past 9 months, we have been meeting with CDE, Colorado Geographic Alliance, historians and professors from MSU Denver, content specialists from Aurora Public Schools, American Museum of Western Art, Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection, and Lessons on Local Government, to create primary source sets and lesson plans for the K-6 classroom.
