by Elie Stone

You call to the darkness in me

I love this about you

It was so comforting

To not be alone there

In the dark

To have a hand to hold

To face the things

I wanted to hide

From myself

From others

From the world

You gave me courage

To peak through timid fingers

Then more bravely

Evaluate fully

Bringing those parts of me

Into the light

Integrating those pieces

Previously rejected

The darkness is still there

I visit

Yet I chose to live in the light

Where you aren’t ready to go

So I must say goodbye

For now

I hope that the light in me

Will call to the light in you

Step out of the shadows

When you are ready

There I will be

Hand outstretched

Welcoming you to the light.
