The inaugural Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Biological Anthropology Association (RMBAA) took place at YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, CO on October 15, 2022!

Title: “Primates of Vietnam: conservation in a rapidly developing country”
Jamie Hodgkins, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, University of Colorado Denver
Title: “Unexpected finds, emotional discoveries, and the predictable unpredictability of archaeological research”
Diane France, Ph.D., D-ABFA
Director, Human Identification Laboratory of Colorado
Title: “Murder, Mayhem, and Mystery: The Challenges of Forensic Anthropology”
- Student-Oriented Professional Development Workshop, including the following panelists:
- Kayla Bellipanni is a bioarcheologist with lots of experience working in cultural resource management and contract archeology.
- Jessica Filipeli is a Deputy Coroner at the Boulder County Coroner’s Office with investigative and forensics expertise.
- Dr. Marian Hamilton is a paleoanthropologist and assistant professor at University of Northern Colorado who specializes in human behavioral evolution and habitat reconstruction.
- Ariana Strasheim is a forensic anthropologist with Grouse Mountain Environmental Consultants in Buffalo, WY, working as an archaeological crew chief and cultural resource specialist.
Conference Registration
All RMBAA members who were up-to-date on their membership dues for the 2022 calendar year were eligible to attend the Annual Meeting. Our membership dues also cover conference registration, so please visit our membership page to pay your annual dues in order to attend the annual meeting.
RMBAA Code of Conduct
The Rocky Mountain Biological Anthropology Association requires that all participants at their annual meeting adhere to the American Association of Biological Anthropologists Code of Conduct as outlined on the AABA website.

Our meeting venue, YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park, is much more than your typical gym-based YMCA. It is an extensive complex in a gorgeous location, complete with conference rooms and on-site lodging. Our room block at YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park is now full, but other lodging options in Estes Park include Alpine Trail Ridge Inn and Estes Lake Lodge.
