Office Hours:

MW 11-1230

TR 11-12

Learning Objectives:

Basic point set topology and all that entails.

Major Assignments/Exams:

  • Midterm Exam–20% + 10%
  • Final Exam–20% + 10%
  • Presentations–20%
  • Daily Homework–20%

Daily assignments:

I will give daily written assignments from the notes. All of the problems should be attempted! Those problems that you are unable to do should include some indication of where you are stuck and how confident you are in what you have done.

In class we will discuss the homework and work problems in groups. Students will be expected to actively participate in discussion and to present work at the board.

Presentations:

You should have noticed that 20% of your grade depends of presentations. Every class will begin with presentations, The presentations will be graded on a scale of 0,3,4,5 ranging from ‘nothing there’ to ‘perfect’. At the end of the semester your grade on the presentations will be calculated as a percentage of the highest score in class. Priority for presentations will be given in reverse order to the points earned to that point.

Required Reading:

Only the notes.

OneNote:

It is my hope that the homework and projects can be turned in electronically on the onenote page I have shared with you. I will also try to write up notes there as they become important.
