OFFICE HOURS:

Monday and Wednsday 10am-11am, or by appointment

MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS/EXAMS:

There will be four hour exams each worth 100 points. The lowest of these scores will be dropped. If an hour exam is missed the score will be zero.
NO MAKE UP EXAMS ARE GIVEN!

There will be a comprehensive final worth 200 points. The final cannot be dropped!
Regular HOMEWORK will be assigned and checked daily. The assignments will be checked during the class period on the day they are due. Each assignment is worth two Only a “reasonable” try is necessary for credit (just copying the answers is not a reasonable try). Save all your assignments so that at the end we can make certain that your records agree with mine. In addition, if time permits, there will be two 20 point assignments using Mathematica.
GRADING SCALE: 90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 60-69 = D, 0-59 = F. The grades will be averaged numerically. Suppose that you do only 10 homework assignments (out of 31 total), get 20 out of 20 on a Mathematica assignment, and that your four hour exam scores are 93, 62, 92, and 91. Assume your score on the final is 181. Your grade would be:
(93 + 92 + 91 + 181 + 20+10 )/572 = 85.1% = ‘B’.
