How to Become a Research Assistant

If you are interested in becoming a research assistant, reach out to faculty in the department whose interests match with yours. Tell them about your interest in becoming a research assistant and ask them if they plan on offering such opportunities in the near future.

If you are interested in becoming one of my research assistants, the best time to reach out is in October for the spring semester and March for the Fall semester. I often do not have enough positions for all who are interested. I tend to give preference to students who I’ve had in a class in the past because I know their patterns of academic and professional behavior. View the “About the Lab [internal link]” page to learn more about working with me and my “Research [internal link]” page to learn about the types of studies I conduct.

I also encourage students to join the Research Club in the psychological sciences department as they wait for a research assistantship and/or to gain additional research experience. View this website [external link] for information on the Research Club.
