Academic advisors are a fantastic resource for navigating MSU Denver efficiently and successfully. Academic advisors support a student’s growth and journey through university by working with them to select paths of study, enroll in classes, monitor academic progress, and ensuring graduation requirements have been met. They are also excellent at connecting students to resources on campus that will support their achievements.
Encourage your student to meet with their academic advisor every semester to make sure they are taking the correct classes for their major. It is crucial to seek guidance from their academic advisor rather than relying on advice from peers or other students on campus, as each student’s academic journey is unique and individual requirements vary.
Helpful Tools
- Navigate: SSC Navigate is an online advising and retention tool that supports communication between MSU Denver staff and students. Students can make appointments with MSU Denver faculty and staff using the software.
- Degree Progress Report: The Degree Progress Report (DPR) keeps track degree requirements for your currently declared program(s). It shows you how you are completing them. Your academic department may have department-specific resources for you as well.
If students do not know who their academic advisor is, they are able to find it in their Degree Progress report.
