Hi everyone and welcome to Spring semester 2019!
It still feels foreign to write 2019 and then when I actually think about the year 2019, my mind is blown with how fast time flies. I remember when my sister wrote home from college and was talking about electronic mail AKA “email”. It was hard for me to get my mind around how the mail came to my sister in her computer. Was it delivered there, did someone type it in, and how could I send my sister “email”? We have come a long way since 1990 and yet my mind is still as amazed as it was learning about email when I think of all the amazing technology we are using as we teach Social Work in online environments.
Classes are starting January 22nd and we are working hard on getting our course containers in Blackboard ready for our student’s arrival. In order to help you prepare for your courses, we are offering training on the basics of online teaching (Online 101), how to build your online instructor presence, using synchronous learning in your online course, and how to take advantage of a hybrid course structure. Please see the schedule below and feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!
In addition to online faculty training, we are offering a general affiliate teacher training on January 18th from 7:30 to 9:30am at St. Cajetan’s on the MSU Denver campus. Please join us for breakfast, meet and greet, teaching 101, and more! This is a chance to meet other instructors and to get to know the department. You are welcome to stay for the rest of the day for the full faculty Spring kick-off meeting. RSVP so we can plan for food and space: Affiliate Faculty RSVP Department of Social Work Spring Kick-Off
