Issue 1.8 Welcome to the Online & Hybrid Development Analyst

I’m so pleased to WELCOME our full-time Social Work Online and Hybrid Development Analyst, Dr. Becky Cottrell! This hire has been 3 years in the making and is in direct response to faculty request of having more one one one support and expertise in creating and delivering online and hybrid courses.

Becky will assist Social Work faculty with online and hybrid course development, faculty online instruction development, and online program development and evaluation as we improve and grow our online course delivery methods and programming. Becky’s work will be aligned with our CSWE competencies, equity based pedagogies, online teaching best practice, and current Center for Teaching Learning and Design training and standards, and other resources related to online course development and learning. Many of you have met Becky this past year during our pilot of this position. Becky will be supporting online & hybrid development on the MSW and BSSW teams. Becky begins her full-time interim appointment on July 1st, 2020 but will be working part-time throughout June.

I (AKA Ann Obermann ;-)) will continue in my role as Online Coordinator for our Department and will be working closely with Becky as we integrate this new position into the Department. I have been working with Becky over the past two years as part of a University FLC addressing online instructor presence, Peer Review of Online Standards committee, in the pilot project for this position, Hypothes.is pilot, and on conference paper presentations for the Colorado Online Learning and Teaching with Technology conference and Digital Pedagogy Lab. It has been an absolute honor working with Becky and learning from her expertise in teaching, curriculum, online teaching and learning, and MORE! We are constantly working to support you and improve our program in order to create amazing change agent social workers!  We are specifically going to explore and address how equity is present not only in online teaching but also in the design of our classes . . . so please offer your expertise, feedback, and ideas related to online equity and accessibility!!!!
