MSU Sports and Events

MSU offers a variety of sports that students can get involved in to help build that sense of belonging and community. We offer intramural sports, club sports, and open recreation. MSU also publishes event schedules so students can stay up to date on the latest sports event and have the resources to purchase event tickets. Students may visit the Roadrunners Athletic Calendar to stay up to date on sports and events on or off campus.

Club Sports

MSU’s Club Sports program has an extensive list of the sports they offer. Club Sport teams are student-led which helps to build that sense of community and belonging. Joining a Club Sport is a great way to find like-minded individuals who want to enhance their sports skills or who just want to join a fun and active sport.

Archery

This is a new addition to the Club Sports program. This club will compete soon as they are in the process of joining USA Archery’s Collegiate Archery Program but students may reach out to the club’s president Trinity Weiss, at [email protected] for more information.

Baseball

This Club Sport has a long history with MSU Denver and works with Club Baseball teams in the National Club Baseball Association (NCBA). The NCBA prides itself on its track record of its players going on to play professionally. At the end of the season, players have the opportunity to play for a District title which leads to the chance to play in the DII World Series. Cheerleading and Dance

The Club Cheerleading team performs at all MSU Denver Athletic and Club Sports events to build camaraderie and engagement. This Club Sport also provides opportunities to compete on a national level. The Club Dance team is another great way to build engagement in the sports community at MSU Denver. This team performs at MSU Denver Athletic and Club sporting events and even participates in fundraisers and appearances. It is an inclusive team that prides itself on building up students’ dance skills and building camaraderie in sports events and beyond. E-Sports

This booming industry grows bigger every year and MSU Denver proudly offers students the chance to compete in the gaming industry. This club competes in leagues and tournaments that last just one day. The club is currently looking to build teams for Fortnite, Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch, and CS:GO. There are ample opportunities to enhance your gaming skills and put them to the test in competitions. Golf

MSU Denver’s Club Golf is an inclusive team that accepts players of all skill level which helps to build a sense of community and provides ample learning opportunities for students who want to enhance their golfing skills. The Club Golf team competes through the Mountain Region of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA). The team also plans to hold team events throughout the year to build a better sense of community and enhance their skills outside of campus. Ice Hockey

Club Hockey is a competitive sport that competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II West Region and is also a member of the Big Mountain Hockey Conference. MSU Denver has proudly become a nationally recognized ACHA Program and strives to compete at the highest level. This team practices twice a week at the Ice Centre at the Promenade in Westminster, CO and they hold home games in this location. Lacrosse

MSU Denver Men’s Club Lacrosse competes at the Division II level of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) and quickly jumped to the national scene. This club proudly seized a bid to the National Championship tournament as one of the top 16 teams in the country. Tae Kwon Do

MSU Denver’s Club Tae Kwon Do is an inclusive team that offers opportunities for students of all skill levels. This club strives to help students build their Tae Kwon Do skills to get one step closer to becoming the top collegiate Tae Kwon Do club in the country. Volleyball

This club has a men’s and women’s team and provides an inclusive environment to help students enhance their skills. The Men’s team is a National Club Volleyball Federation Division II club team in the Mountain West Volleyball Conference. The Men’s team plays competitively at the collegiate level in and out of state. Intramural Sports Program

The Intramural Sports program offers opportunities to participate in traditional sports and esports activities for Campus Recreation members. Teams play on-campus in the gym and Campus Recreation provides game officials, develops the rules, and league play. This program also holds one-day tournaments and events throughout the semester. Open Recreation

Open Recreation is open to all Campus Recreation Members and includes drop-in activities such as basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer in the gym. Members can also casually play sports in the gym and can rent equipment (balls, racquets, nets, etc.) from the Fitness Center for one-day use. Students may purchase a membership through the Campus Recreation page and can find information on pricing on this page as well.
